Case Fish Knife

I have seen this knife on the web and in E Bay.
My thinking is this. Why does Case not use the Case sheld on this knife?
Every one I have seen looks just like this one.

It seems to me, that the sharpening stone is in the way of the shield, and would be more useful than the shield IMO Every case fish knife I have seen had the stone and no shield

muskrat man Yes But I fell if they used the Case sheild and the hook sharping stone on the back of the knife. It would have looked better to me. But I gest now I have to buy a Yellow handled case tooth pick to admior the sheild ??

I just thought this was strange.

Howdy muskrat man & justold52,

My thinking on this matter is that the extra steps that would have to be taken in adding a shield on this here Case fish knife along with the stone on the other side of the knife is it would cost them more in production & material cost that would have to be passed on to the buyer as an added charge to the selling price of the knife! ....Only the thoughts of an old fisherman that's a knife collector as well

I dont think cost has anything to do with it, the fish knife is not a collectors item really. Its made to work and not look pretty. Thats why they dont have bone, stag or pearl handles. They were built to sit the bottom of a tackle box, not in a display case.

ken, there is nothing wrong with collecting fishing knives. thay are as much a part of knife history as any other specialty knife.

That's correct Ken, johnnie is right! There is nothing wrong with collecting these fishing knives as my best knifer friend of all time Randy (azcatfish) is a collector of this pattern & has been for many years now, the last I heard he had 700 + pieces in his collection to date + the Case Fly fishing knife is one of the most sot after in the hobby for many collectors to boot

....The reason I made the statement about the added production & material cost from Case is I have heard that they were like minded in that manner, there are many other Cutlery Companys out there that are not but Case is! ....For another example on Case cutting corners (production & material cost) is the way they do their shields now, being glued on & no longer pinned. This is why I no longer collect any of the "New age" Case knives

Actually Case made several variations of the fish knife with green bone handles during the Case Tested years.

I just got this knive today. It can be used as an ancor.

Paid $17.49 and excepted $10.00 refund.

My worst knife I ever got yet.
I can see between the scales and brass and see nails and pin but they do not come through the scales.See between the springs. The blades are as loos as a gooes. JUNK

If you see it for sale on E BAY don't become a sucker
