2 very fine looking BarlowsSharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 12:54 am Some great looking Barlow’s have been added lately. Thought I would add a couple that I picked up recently.
A Robeson by Queen RCC Barlow in bone stag. And on the other end of the price spectrum a Marbles made in China Barlow. I like these gun checkered handle on these. I saw this on a mountain man lockback that someone posted and went hunting for this handle material and found this Barlow and couldn’t pass it up.

I just ordered the Sowbelly with that same handle, Mark. It really is a good looking handle! And you’re right, the price ain’t bad either!Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 3:17 pmThanks Tim, the Marbles is under 30 bucks, depending on the seller. Can’t go too wrong with that. Plus it looks nice with those checkered gunstock bone handles.

Thanks Bill. Nice move Tim. I wanted that one but I really want a cuttin horse pattern. I haven’t been able to find one with that handle material in a cuttin horse. I know Marbles makes a cuttin horse, but apparently they overlooked that when they did these. There are several patterns and all look nice. Can’t wait to see yours.

Wow BIll, that has to be one of the finest H&R stag cuttin horse knives I’ve seen. The others are all nice too.Louisville.Boy1947 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 26, 2025 6:18 pmWas this what you were looking for ? That’s the pattern. Marbles makes that same pattern in China. I use to have a brown stag bone handled one that was stolen. I’ve seen it also in checkered pearl and red stag bone. I would have liked to have one with this checkered bone in the cuttin horse knife that they offered, but doesn’t look like they make it. Be sure to post your sowbelly when you get it.

The black Tinker arrived a few days ago.
I cut off the key ring eyelet as I do with most of my SAKs that have one.

Thank you Cudgee!
Тhey were produced in the 1960s or 1970s at the Hammer and Sickle factory in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. The price is also marked on the tang, which at the black market rate at the time was about a dollar.

Thank you. I have recently re-discovered them but they alluded my interest for decades. Ironically, it was a Victorinox that got me started collecting knives in 2006. My wife asked for one for Christmas in 2006 and shopping around for her gift is what rekindled my interest in pocketknives. I guess I could say that it’s all her fault be we all know better than that.woodwalker wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 4:02 amLike your Vic's as well. I carry one everyday and have for over 40 years.![]()
Have you carried the same Vic for 40 years or have you changed it up occasionally?

No sir. I bought a Wenger Commander right out of the Navy in 1983. And I have switched from a Victorinox Tinker and then to a Spartan Light and now i switch of and on from a Victorinox Pioneer that was graciously gifted to me from Chris (Pringle Tree here on AAPK) and a Victorinox Fieldmaster. I always have a Victorinox Mini Champ on me as well. They are all very good knives.Railsplitter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 4:17 amThank you. I also carry an old Case as well. A Tested XX 42087. I love the history of Case knives.

Mark (sharpshinyknives) posted the Barlow version of this, and I had to go buy one - but I opted for this one that they call a Sowbelly Whittler. Just got it in the mail yesterday.
