Arrow NY (American Razor Co.)

Post by J529A »

I saw this knife for sale on eBay and was curious about the American Razor Company producing pocket knives. The only information I could find was in Goins'. He stated the company life span as 1910 to 1930. He stated the brand logo was an arrow with an arrow through it etched on the blade. I assume this was a razor company that was only in business 20 years. Apparently, they also made some pocket knives. Does anyone have any information about these knives? What was the level of quality and are they collectible? I attached the listing photo.

I have attached the other photos from the listing. I can't find any information at all about these knives. Goins states "American Razor Co. New York, New York. 1910-1930. The word "Arrow" with an arrow through it etched on the blade. I see the described logo on the tang but not the blade. I searched online but found nothing about The American Razor Copany. I was wondering if they had good quality knives and if they were collectible. I assume the company mostly made straight razors and not pocket knives. Also, if they were only in business 20 years and ended in 1930, their pocket knives may be hard to find.

I've had this knife stashed away for a while and can't seem to dig much up on it. Has an ARROW / USA tang stamp. Has Benchmade etch on one blade and Commonchero on the other. I don't think it is the old Arrow brand being discussed here and maybe the 78 on the tang stamp is a good indication as to when it was made. I've thought this was a SMKW knock-off of another old brand name, but if that is true this much have been a very short production run. There aren't many of these around. Any other ideas?
