1990 HB 240WHSS First Issue

Hi All,

New to the club here and thought I’d ask a few questions about this 1990 HB 240WHSS First Issue Dogleg Trapper I picked up over the weekend.
1. Is the color of the scales called Honey Bone?
2. How many of these were made like this?
3. Would this be a knife of a set in which there are others to collect?
I appreciate any help I can find and also any help I can provide to others along the way. That’s what it’s all about, helping our brothers and neighbors. Have a blessed day and thank you again.

1. Yes, that is Honey Bone---the HB in the pattern number on the box label stands for Honey Bone
2. Not sure about the number of 240WHSS Dogleg Trappers made, but I do know there were 500 of each version of the 207WHSS Mini Trappers which have the same handle and blade combinations so I would assume the same numbers for the Dogleg Trapper.
3. Yes, as with the 207WHSS First Issue Mini Trappers, the 240WHSS came in two versions (plain edge & serrated Wharncliffe secondary blades) of each of five different handle colors (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Honey)
Also, some are stamped with a long tail C serial number bolster stamp but not all.

Here are a couple of mine: Honey Bone w/ plain edge Wharncliffe (like yours but with serial number bolster stamp), and Yellow Bone w/ serrated Wharncliffe that I had modified by glennbad with Amber Stag and his stamp on the bolster (serial number stamp was removed)

You will have a lot of fun collecting every version of the 240WHSS if you decide to go for a complete collection. But, it will take some time and patience and a lot of money (they are pretty popular and when they do come up for sale they usually command top dollar prices).

Fantastic group of First Issues, Q! I love seeing that Amber Stag glenngood mod again... It is absolutely Spectacular!

I had one of those once - frame shape resembles what I envision a grand daddy peanut would look like . It's hard to get a feel for how big this pattern really is from pictures.
