This was probably the 1st stainless steel knife I ever owned. Back then I had no idea how to keep an edge on it, near about wore the clip blade down trying to keep it sharp. I was even relieved when I had to put it away because of the broken pin. That started my affair with Schrade Walden knives as the local feed store sold them, carbon steel blades that I could sharpen.
Fast forward to my discovery of AAPK, there I learned the old Case 6254 10 dot could be repaired..Thanks to member Bob Picklesimer aka Elvis, the old trapper was repaired by Case. When the knife was returned to me, the 10 dots were hidden due to whatever Case did when they repaired it.
The blade was cleaned up and sharpened properly but repositioned..
Paying closer attention to the knife, thanks to AAPK, I discovered the spring that operates the spay blade was carbon steel, not an issue but a bit different, maybe a Friday afternoon 5pm job or an early Monday morning job.
It's an old friend, been with me 55 years, doesn't get much pocket time and it probably deserves the rest after being abused by a feller that back then saw it only as a tool.
