"WWII CS-34 and TL-29"

Kinda fits here, but it also doesn't--as they're not exactly counterfeit, but not WWII.

I was doing a web search for a different (and newer) Schrade knife, and came across this. Since I had an evening to waste, I did a little research.

The kit is sold as an "Original WWII Signal Corps Tool Set" with an almost $200 asking price. Yet, both knife and cutters aren't WWII--and the pouch as well.

The knife is a long-line #27--so '60s or '70s (and possibly later). There's a small blurb about plastic handles being "post WWII"; but that's it. It's also rusted pretty bad with tarnished bolsters. Maybe a $5-10 knife in that shape.

The Channellock cutters use a stamp that was introduced in the late '60s.

Here is a catalog from 1941 for reference. Note that all markings for a WWII era 337 are centered around the pivot, while they're left-right on the ones in this set. All 337s were marked this way until almost 20 years after the war.

The pouch has the remnants of an ink stamp. I can make out "NSN" and "1 EA". The National Stock Number didn't come into use until 1974.

Also, the ink stamp didn't come into use until the Vietnam-era. Thus, 1974 makes sense.

That being said, I need to go ahead and pick up one of the like $25-30 later CS-34s off eBay. I have a WWII TL-29 from Camillus (a four-line), and a pair of 1930s-40s Red Devil pliers (NOT TE-13s, unfortunately) to go alongside my small WWII pocketknife collection. That being said, I want one more to carry my TL-29 and linesman's while working more than I do as a display.

Have this pouch that I believe paid 20 bucks for . If interested in it you can have it for that plus shipping . The snaps work fine and belt loop is not torn or worn
