First time seeing a Hen and Rooster honestly marked “China”

Finally today I saw my first Hen and Rooster knife with the words “German Steel” on one blade and “China” on another blade. This is the first time I’ve seen honest markings on modern Hen and Rooster knives. For many years now, they have been deceptively marking blades either “German Steel, German Stainless or German Design” with no indication of the COO on the knife. I don’t know why this was tolerated by dealers and knife buyers for such a long time? Glad to see this come to an end.

I agree it is insane!! I have learned to look for "German Steel" as a sign that a German branded knife is really China made. Buck Creek and others do this too - maybe it is all brands owned by Frost.

Ill buy a knife from China, even Pakistan, if it's stamped not inked. My major caveat and blind eye I turn to this issue is knives made in Japan that are only inked Japan on the pile side near the spine. Just as deceptive, but you know, I like Japan

The etch on the blade says 2024 so maybe they have been doing this for over a year, but it’s the first time I’ve seen one with a tang stamp that says “handcrafted China”.
