Remington 3 blade scout

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington 3 blade scout

Post by cooter303 »

Just picked up this Remington 3 blade scout knife. From the tang stamp, I gather it was made 1933-35. I have never seen or had a Remington 3 blade scout before. Can anyone tell me more about it? The blades have good snap. The handle on one side was cracked and repaired. A good one for in the pocket.

Remington made the 3-blade official BSA knife from 1934-1939 both with a permanent and removable bail. This is Remington Model RS4783 and BSA #1494. The removable bail model has 2 variations; the screwdriver on the main blade side and like yours with the can opener on the main blade side. Nice find.
