Re: Vintage Folding Knives With Fixed or Folding Swing Guards
Not too recently, this "fishtail" pattern or style of pocket knife, arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It did get added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a HAMMER BRAND, one blade, one tang stamp, 2" closed (not including the bail), long blade pull, "fishtail", pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "HAMMER (over) BRAND (with the flexed arm & hammer) and a vertical USA on the side. The blade does NOT have a half stop. The blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The blade does have a GOOD closing snap. This pocket knife is in GOOD+ condition. I took some pictures, here it is.

I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to get this particular pocket knife. But, it did get added to my general, foreign born, pocket knife collection. It is an ITALY, one blade, one tang stamp, 4 7/8" closed, 8 3/4" open, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "MADE (over) ITALY" The main blade opens and locks in place, and releases and closes with no problem. Overall, this pocket knife is in GOOD condition. This pocket knife did need a little bit of cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Three from me:
Parker Cutlery EL DIABLO with scrimshaw.
Unmarked French fishtail.
Cattaraugus coke bottle with handmade guards. Need to refine them a bit to let the locktback lock sit properly.

My 9" Kissing Crane stiletto. Made in Italy by Angelo Campolin for Kissing Crane. In 1985, at the age of 15, a friend and I each ordered one from a catalog, maybe SMKW. We also had to buy one for my friends father, a bribe to get him to write a check for us.
People often say that a stiletto has no practical value, but I disagree. I carried this knife daily for 16 years and used it for all manner of cutting tasks that one might use a normal pocketknife for.
I ground away a section of the handle around the nail nick to make the knife easier to open by grabbing the blade with my thumb and finger. It made a huge difference.

Not too recently, my trip to the post office produced this "Deer Foot" pocket knife. It is an ERNST ROMMERSWINKEL, one blade, one tool (a corkscrew), two tang stamps, 5 3/8" closed, lever lock, "Deer Foot" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp (football shaped) says, "ERNST ROMMERSWINKEL (over) SOLINGEN GERMANY" with "ERO" in the center. The main blade back tang stamp says, "MADE IN (over) GERMANY" This main blade does NOT have a half stop. This main blade does have a VERY GOOD opening snap. This main blade does have a VERY GOOD closing snap. The corkscrew opens and closes with NO problems. This pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. I just cleaned up the blade a little bit.
I took some pictures and here it is.
