Downy Woodpecker enjoying the suet block.
Seeing lots of activity from chickadees, nuthatches, and red-bellied woodpeckers. And the pesky sparrows, guess all God’s creatures get to eat.

Yes if you're gonna feed them you can't deny what many call trash birds, they're little bellies need filling too. I don't mind Sparrows as much as I do Starlings.
I believe looking at that beak that it's a female Hairy Woodpecker, but I could be wrong. Beautiful bird whichever it is.
I didn't feed this summer" except Humming birds" and have not filled my feeders yet. I need to put some suet out. ::handshake::

Could be, I thought it looked too small for a Hairy, I know I do get both. During the summer months I only fed the orioles and hummingbirds. Figured the others could fend for themselves.
Got 5” of snow a couple of days ago and everything needs filled which I will do shortly.

Owls are uber cool 8) Great shot ::tu::

These two toms crossed the road right in front of me while I was driving into town but I couldn't get my phone out fast enough to get a decent pic. By the time I was able to snap one, they had their backs turned to me (even while keeping a watchful eye on me) and slowly sauntered away as if they couldn't care less that Thanksgiving is only a few days away!

Just saw this dude as I was driving along a remote stretch of road, made a U turn and got a pic before he flew.

And Boji, your feeder looks popular.

Thanks, Joe and Mel. I was glad to get that hasty pic taken thru the windshield of my truck. I see Barred Owls somewhat often, but Horned Owls not so much.

Thanks, Floyd. I see them 3 or 4 times a year, but don't have a chance for a pic. In fact, this one was seen at dusk, and I had to lighten up the pic to make it viewable.

What is this bird, lol. Mr Bushy Tail aka tree rat has mastered getting the suet. It has taken him awhile with this feeder. I know I could use the hot pepper suet but it is about 3x as expensive so I just let him have at it. And I enjoy his antics.

Cardinals have been abundant this season: 3 males, three females. But I was surprised to see a Red-Winged Blackbird at the feeder today. On the other hand I am less than pleased to have a pair of Cow Birds around. I certainly do not want them around during the nesting season.

Are Cow Birds and Grackles the same bird? I hear the terms used interchangeably here and it causes me to wonder.
