Case 5391 is it worth?

Post by Srhamel »

I just received a case I believe double X5391. It was my grandpa’s. I’m just trying to find out if it is worth anything by submitting some pictures if someone could let me know, I’d appreciate it thank you so much!

Monetary value, not much because of blade loss and general condition. Value as a knife that your Grandpa owned, priceless.

This is the A I answer that doesn't know anything about your specific knife.

The value of a Case 5391 knife varies greatly depending on its specific model, condition, and age, with prices ranging from around $290 for a rare, new Burnt Stag Anglo Saxon Whittler to potentially higher values for limited-edition sets. To determine your knife's value, check the tang stamp to identify its manufacturing year, look for special features like a Limited Edition status or unique handles, and assess its condition, as well as its packaging, like a velvet box.
Factors that determine value
Specific model and features:
The "5391" number can correspond to different knives, such as the "LARGE Anglo Saxon Whittler" or a specific knife within a limited-edition set.
Special handle materials like "Burnt Stag" or "Genuine India Stag" can increase value.

This is a discontinued pattern that is not common and doesn't come up often. Depending on the condition of the rest of your knife that is unknown, I wouldn't be surprised if your knife brought more than expected in an online auction. If you want an online price "guesstimate" post more and better pictures.
Your knife is far from mint. Only online sale I could find.

A little un-solicited advise from a man that has been there and done that way too many times. This knife in this condition IS your grandfather. He carried it and worn its blade and handle down from years of being carried. Anything you do like polish it, and you are removing your grandpa's DNA and history forever and can never be undone.

we need to carve these 3 sentences in stone and use them every time a question is posed about a family heirloom. Very well said, thank you.
