Surgery Tomorrow
I sure would like your thoughts and prayers for my upcoming heart surgery in the morning. So far they have done a heart ablation, implanted a heart loop recorder in my chest and now they are going to implant a "Watchman" devise inside my heart. This is an official discription:
"The Watchman device is a small, umbrella-shaped implant that is placed in the heart's left atrial appendage (LAA) to prevent blood clots from entering the bloodstream. This is particularly important for patients with atrial fibrillation, as they are at a higher risk of stroke due to the formation of clots in the LAA."
Because of past history and the fact I already have 3 heart stents they will be keeping me in the hospital for at least 24 hours. I have to be at the hospital at 5:10 am for check-in and then I'm the first one in the O.R. So today is one of those they tell you what meds to take or not take, what to eat or not eat and what activities to do or not do. I know some of you are familar with this procedure and may even have had it done to you. For some reason I'm a little apprehensive this time and I sure would appreciate your prayers that all will go well. Thank you and God Bless you.

Hi Dave,
I will pray for you, and also wish you good luck for a successful procedure. I haven't had anything like you have/are having, but I have had bypass surgery in the past.
My thoughts are with you!!!

Re: Surgery Tomorrow
David,
I can understand your apprehension, I've only had one stent so far but Miss Joy had a quadruple bypass back in 2012 and we were very apprehensive all the while knowing the Lord was in control of our lives as believers.
We will be praying for you all along as we're prompted by the Spirit to lift you up asking the Lord to be gracious to you in tomorrow's procedure. Your wife and family will also be included in my prayers. The Lord bless y'all as you go through this together.

Re: Surgery Tomorrow
Father,
I ask your blessings and peace be upon David and his family through this surgery and recovery.
I ask that you would give his doctors knowledge, skills and wisdom far beyond their training and experience. Direct their hands that they would work skillfully and make no errors in this surgery.
Give my brother peace and reassurance that he is in your loving hands. Let him know that your plans for him are for his future and hope.
I ask this in the name of your precious Son,
Amen

Re: Surgery Tomorrow
David, completely understandable your apprehension. I will pray for you too. I know it was prayer that got me through when I almost died with covid back in 2021. So many people on the forum were praying for me and reaching out. It made a huge difference. I know it will for you too.

Re: Surgery Tomorrow
Just got home about an hour ago, I think you can check out of jail faster than you can get released from a hospital. My surgery yesterday took about 2 hours and it wasn't the "Watchman" device they ended up implanting in my heart, it was a simular device called an "Amulet." The difference between them is unknown to me but I know the one I got has a dual seal to block blood clots in that area of the heart. That is as technical as I can get, I just pray that it works as intended.
This is the second time recently that the doctors had to entry through the groin area so this time that area is very, very sore and it's hard for me to walk. I am on light duty for two weeks and in 45 days if all is good the doctor can take me off all of the blood thinning medication. Right now I'm very fatiqued and sleepy. The hospital beds now days are "air cushioned" and every time I moved that bed would come alive and start moving air around to fit my weight and body according to how I was positioned in the bed. Then you had the nurses and aids coming in every hour to hour and a half "Mr. Roberts how are you?" Well let me see, I was asleep!!!!
I'm counting on being full speed ahead in about a week.
I want to express my gratitude and thanks for your comments and prayers. I will admit that I need good folks like all of you right here at AAPK to pray for me and to have my back when circumstances get rough. God bless you all.

Glad everything went well and you are back home. You cannot beat home, your own bed and your own space for recovery. Take care my friend.dlr110 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:31 pm Just got home about an hour ago, I think you can check out of jail faster than you can get released from a hospital. Re: Surgery Tomorrow
Glad to read this, I was wondering about you.
Sleeping in a hospital is almost impossible. It gets annoying being woken up so many times. It really makes you grateful to go home.
