Already has pretty nice character in that Olive Wood Bummer about the pin crack, was that your doing or did it come that way?

No mate, that is how it came, but i'm not worried about it. It can be a trait of Olive Wood for some reason. I have a hunting knife which i have had for years with Olive Wood scales and it also developed a crack near a pin. It's not ideal, but i'm not going to give myself an ulcer over it.

Good attitude, Cudgee! Don't sweat the small stuff. You have more things to worry about in Australia, like death adders and Crocs the size of cars!
Nice knife, too! I would smear a little wood glue in that crack though, just to keep moisture out and keep it from swelling.. Sorry, that's my problem, I'm a guitar repair guy!

I use Titebond wood glue, and you can mix a tad bit (very little) of stain in with it to color match. I just push it in with my finger a couple of times to fill the gap, then wipe the excess with a little warm water on a paper towel. That usually works pretty well.

Just thought i would let you know, been carrying, using and fondling this since i got it. The covers are really starting to develop some character and just so smooth. A couple of reasons why i just love wood on a knife.

That's perfect mate ... I'll use linseed oil, olive oil, or teak oil to keep the wood in tip-top shape, ... but, it looks like you are already there mate
