News for thought.

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

News for thought.

Post by WillyCamaro »

Hey fellers, I was looking at headlines the other night, and came across something very, very sad.

So, for context, 53% of Americans still views Christianity in a positive light. Even just for the society outreach, like soup kitchens and hospital visits.
Well, the newest stats just came out for Canada. Only 34% of Canadian's view Christians in a positive light.

Things are declining so fast up here is alarming. But, this is entirely predictable for a society that threw off it's "shackles" starting back in the 60's.

Prayers would be appreciated for the believers in Canada. We desperately need faithful men and women in society, making what differences that they can, wherever the Lord puts them.

Glad to see your post, Willie, hope you're doing well. I think Christianity is even worse in Europe. 🙏

I traveled to Canada years ago and was told that there are 3 things people in Canada hate:
GOD, guns & Americans. It’s a shame cause I see good in all 3. It was some of the most beautiful country I’ve ever seen.
CHRISTian, husband, father & grandfather. Lover of my Heavenly Father and family.

That is concerning. We want everyone to fall in love with the God we love, and come to know Him through His Son.
I will be praying for the people of Canada.

My own opinion is that more people than ever believe in God and have a working relationship with him and that fewer people than ever believe in the church and trust in it for guidance. Ghandi spent a lifetime studying comparative religions and said something like he had a deep admiration for this book named the Bible and this person named Jesus Christ, as far as he could tell it was these people called Christians that had caused 95% of the world's problems and would likely continue to do so. Take a look around. Jesus and the Bible haven't changed in 2000 years. It's these people called Christians that continue to cause strife. God is love, end of conversation.

I saw a documentary about this on Netflix, and it just broke my heart. About what happened to Canadian school children in Canada for over a century. This is copy and paste and not my words. Canadians have every right to be heartbroken.

The phrase "Canadian school children Catholics Canada" most likely refers to the Catholic Church's extensive and harmful role in the Canadian Indian residential school system. For over a century, the Canadian government and various Christian churches, predominantly the Catholic Church, forcibly removed Indigenous children from their families and sent them to these boarding schools.
The purpose and operation of residential schools
Forced assimilation: The schools' explicit goal was to strip Indigenous children of their culture, language, and identity in order to assimilate them into Euro-Canadian society. This policy has been called "cultural genocide" by Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Church administration: While the Canadian government funded the system, it relied on Christian churches to operate the schools. The Roman Catholic Church ran the majority of them, an estimated 60% to 70%.
Abuse and neglect: Children were forbidden from speaking their native languages and practicing their traditions. Abuse, both physical and sexual, was widespread. Thousands of children died from disease, neglect, and malnutrition.
The truth and reconciliation process
Findings of the TRC: In 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada documented the horrific abuse and high death toll at these schools. The commission estimated that over 6,000 children died while attending residential schools.
Unmarked graves: The discovery of unmarked graves containing children's remains at former residential school sites in recent years has brought renewed attention to this dark chapter of Canadian history.
Apologies: While the Canadian government apologized in 2008, the Catholic Church's apology came much later. In 2022, after a visit to Canada, Pope Francis apologized for the "evil" and "deplorable" conduct of Church members and acknowledged that the forced assimilation amounted to genocide.

Preach, brother! The prevalent "Christianity" of today has little, if anything at all to do with the teachings of Jesus. I could go on a rant here, but this isn't the political forum, and I am not authorized to make political statements at AAPK. And to paraphrase the announcer, in A League of Their Own, "Take me home momma and put me to bed. I have said enough to know I have said too much."

My favorite has become Amazing Facts. It's a Seventh Day Adventist program. Doug Bachelor is one of the most knowledgeable teachers I have ever heard.
If you have a Bible question you can call in, and they will answer it. I listen to Bible Answers Live on the radio, but they speak of having a program on YouTube tv. I'm very open minded to the fact that the true sabbath is probably on a Saturday. Very interesting study about how the sabbath was actually changed to a Sunday. The dietary guidelines they adhere to are life changing. Of course, all of us are human and can't be 100% healthy in any aspect of our lives.

The "Amazing Facts" radio program is a series of Christian radio broadcasts, originally created by Joe Crews and now featuring Doug Batchelor. It is part of the broader Amazing Facts ministry, which offers programs like "Bible Answers Live" and "Amazing Facts Presents". You can listen to a 24/7 internet radio stream, find it on hundreds of terrestrial radio stations, listen through SiriusXM, or access archives and live streams online.
