Pocket Knife To The Rescue!

In my experience, pocket knife carriers tend to be the helpful sort, ready to aid our fellow creatures (human and otherwise) when need arises. Shall we regale each other with accounts of such moments?

I'll begin.

At the local liquor and smoke shop, one evening, I noticed a pair of other shoppers fairly frantically scanning the shelves and clearly not finding what they were looking for. Complicating the matter was that these shoppers did not speak English, and neither the store's clerk nor myself spoke Spanish. Still, somehow, they managed to convey that they were from the Mexican restaurant next door and needed a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine for one of their customers.

I thought it odd that the restaurant didn't have one, and odder still that the liquor store didn't sell them. Seriously? Wow!

I drew my Victorinox "Climber" from my pocket, showed them the corkscrew, and told them I'd come and help after completing my purchase. They waited, and we proceeded to the restaurant. I pulled the cork, the restaurant staff were much relieved and grateful, and I departed, feeling pleased for being able to help out.

Awesome story! I've used my Fieldmaster's tweezers to get out thorns and wood splinters for people on many occasions. Church, work and elsewhere. I agree, we knife carrying folk care and will help out when needed.

I believe the restaurant patrons brought the wine with them. The liquor store is more of a beer, distilled spirits, and box wine ("cardbordaeux") outfit.

In a pinch, I have pushed corks into the bottle to free the nectar.

When my daughter, and nieces and nephews were all small, I was always the hero on Christmas morning or birthday parties when they want to get their new toys unpackaged ASAP and play with them right there in between everyone's feet.
