If you own a Brown Brothers Knife, you'll want to read this

As many of you know my focus for many years has been with the cutlery produced in the historic town of Tidioioutr PA. My first article for Knife Magazine I over twenty years ago showed a Brown Brothers knife in the cover for the article. Just like many things in the research of cutlery companies new things come to light with time.

After an extensive search of records and newspaper articles an expert friend help to uncover a startling fact. Knives mark Brown Brothers have nothing to do with Tidioute and or the Brown family knives from little valley or Tidioute These were made by a company in Germany named Brown Bros prior to the Tariff of 1891. This news may disappoint some who own them but the facts are very clear. Razors is another thing all together and are associated with the Tidioute legacy.

Very intensive investigations. Look at the attached examples. If you know the tell tale signs, both of these knives scream GERMANY

Those two do look like German made knives.

Wasn't there a BROWN BROTHERS TIDIOUTE stamp used, though? I seem to recall owning one years ago.
