Curious about a Buck knife I've owned for years

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Curious about a Buck knife I've owned for years

Post by mcate »

I'm new to this forum, & haven't really been into knife collecting for a while. I've had this Buck knife commemorating 25 years of Alaskan statehood in my closet since 1984. It's serial # 179/250. Anyone know how much it's worth, or where I would go to find out?

Thanx,
Mike

I have been waiting for one of the 110 folks or Joe Houser to tell you something on this.

Not my area, but I would suggest you contact Joe Houser at Buck Knives. He will be able to tell you.

If you care to, go to website for contact info. It's quickest to call, by email works also.

The Alaska's 25th was issued in 1985. There were 3 different models issued.
1) 250 issued, ebony handle (wine color), tang stamp "426", Arum gold etch.
2) 500 issued, black handle, tang stamp "426", Arum gold etch.
3) 250 issued, Orange handle, tang stamp "426", Arum gold etch.

Yours looks to be issue #3. List cost was $100 in 1985, BCCI list shows this as a value of $125 currently. However, with the economy what it is I'd say your knife is worth $50-80.

There was just a recent order for the same etch for an Alasan retailer and they were selling them new in the box for $79.

Thanx. I have the receipt in the box from when I bought it in Dec of '84. I paid $67 for it. Man, I thought it would've appreciated some in the last 25 years!
