Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Went up to Cabela's in Hamburg, PA several weeks ago and picked up this 6220 Peanut.
An oddity for me, here's why.
My preferred length is 3-1/4 to 4-1/4, the 6318 being perfect at 3-5/8. I also prefer the 3-bladed stockmans.
Another oddity is that I'm really getting attached to this little Peanut pattern!

My first car was a '67 LeMans, the GTO-wannbe, painted the same as that one.
That little GTO there is just one of many sitting around my office.
Take care and God bless,

It has the Case tang stamp which I understand to be pre 1920, so that makes it the oldest Case knife I own. Just wondering, is the handle material on this one celluloid? It looks yellow, but one can see a white line when looking at the edges.

The handle is celluloid, the old knives sometimes had that white lining underneath, sometimes it was black and New York Knife used a pinkish red lining. Nice old knife, what would become a 3233 pattern, pre 1920. The lined knives seem to hold up better with regard to outgassing than the others.

Thanks, it will fit right in with the rest of the small pen knives I have.

That’s awesome, I love the 99-1/2 pattern. I wish that would be the next vault pattern.

I was gifted this knife recently from a member from another forum. The generosity of folks like them just blows me away.

Scored this Cheetah off the bay at a steal compared to Cheetah prices these days. CASE calls the color burnt moss. Made in 2002. Pattern 6111 1/2L. The light makes it look more blue but the color is green for sure. Figured with the recent CASE purchases I better join CCC. Bet there's some other members here that are members there as well. Haven't received my membership packet yet. What's yalls take on that club?

It is celluloid. The old TESTED era yellow covers were celluloid, with a white liner.

The club has a great, friendly community of “regulars” and some occasional drive-by posters as well. Most members collect the newer knives but there are a few who collect older pre-1980 knives - those knives are called “oldies” by most members. Good place to ask questions especially about newer knives. Several member names there that you will recognize as being members here also. Unlike AAPK, unless you are a paying member the CCC forum is behind the “pay wall” and not accessible to general internet viewers. Case employs a club manager who frequently participates in discussions and occasionally answers questions - typically a club member beats her to it. However don’t expect much from Case regarding older knives or company history - I don’t think there is much “institutional knowledge” left. Hope you enjoy your membership!
