Not too recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. It now becomes my most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It did get added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a VAN CAMP 708, two blades, one tool (a punch or awl), two tang stamps, 3 1/2" closed, two springs, cattleman, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade tang stamp says, "VAN CAMP (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says, "708" (the pattern #) The shield is a replacement shield, it is NOT original to the knife. The main blade does NOT have a half stop. The main blade does have an OK opening snap. The main blade does have an OK closing snap. The secondary blade does have a WEAK half stop. The secondary blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The tool opens and closes properly, without any issues. Overall, this pocket knife is in FAIR+ condition. This pocket knife did require some VERY minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Here is a nice 3 1/2" Enders dogleg that I recently purchased from Roger.

Whoa Ike. That is an exceptionally beautiful old knife. Handles are beautiful. Blades full. This old doglegg likes that old dogleg. Congrats.

Not too recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, as it turned out, it was a keeper. It did get added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a SIMMONS, two blades, one tang stamp, 3 3/8" closed, two springs, "barehead jack", pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "SIMMONS (over) ST. LOUIS" The main blade has a CRISP half stop. The main blade has a GOOD opening snap. The main blade has a GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade has a VERY CRISP half stop. The secondary blade has a NASTY opening snap. The secondary blade has a NASTY closing snap. Both the main blade and the secondary blade have seen some use. This pocket knife is in FAIR+ condition. This pocket knife did need some cleaning.

Yes New York Knife is believed to have made cutlery for Dunham, Carrigan & Hayden. Goins’ says New York Knife closed their factory in 1931, but Dunham, Carrigan & Hayden continued to be in business until 1964. So assuming they continued distribution of cutlery from 1931 until 1964 they must have had other makers, either before and after 1931.

The list was compiled from reputable sources as best I could find at the time. It’s not intended to be all-inclusive, nor infallible. Inclusion of a manufacturer means there is reputable information of that association, but omission of a manufacturer simply means I found no evidence of association. It is possible such evidence exists and I didn’t find it at the time.

Thank you Dave . That is a feature that would be nice to have when using the punch. Have used an old Camillus knife With punch to try making holes in old leather and you have to be careful the punch doesn’t fold up on you .

My John Primble pocket knife. The "information" tang stamp is barely legible (Belknap Hardware). The pattern # tang stamp is less legible. You can barely see the star, in the center of the tang stamp, in the center of the picture. It looks like a number "3" above and slightly to the right of the top point of the star. That's the only number that I'm almost sure of. Maybe a "0" just to the left of the "3." It is 3 3/8" closed. If anyone knows the pattern #, please let me know. Thank you.
