Sterling Silver Pocket Knife

Here’s an interesting knife I inherited. I’m hoping someone has some information or familiarity with this type of knife. It looks like the buttons and the “latches” (I don’t know what to call them) have something to do with getting the blades out. Unfortunately, not any more. The buttons push in and the latches move back and forth, but a blade doesn’t snap out. But, if you happen to push the right button and latch at the right time one of the blades slips out enough for you to grab it and pull it out. This doesn’t work all the time. Looks like the other blade is serrated.If this something someone could clean and repair, if they had the knowledge? Any idea of the value? Thanks!

It's a Schrade Cut Co double switchblade made in Walden New York, I'd say in the early 1900's. The second smaller blade is a nail file. The switches under the buttons are the safeties, designed to prevent the buttons from being pressed. When the switches are pushed all the way towards the button you should not be able to press the buttons (safe), after the switches are pulled all the way down you should be able to fire (open) a blade, if the knife were in proper working condition.

The firing springs that would normally open the blades could be broken.

I see one in good, fully functional condition currently for sale for $360. But that's the asking price, not the "sold" price.

Thanks for all the info. I didn’t realize it was considered a switchblade. As I mentioned, I inherited the knife and I don’t collect knives. I’m finding it very interesting learning all about the different brands and types of knives.I may consider listing it “as is”. It can’t be listed on ebay if it’s a switchblade, so maybe I’ll list it on this site. Thanks again.
