Snap restored on Case 6232

Post by Reverand »

I just finished this knife for a customer.
He sent a two page letter with it, explaining that this was the first Case knife that he ever purchased, back in 1977. He had worn down the main blade and broken the pen, and had both blades replaced over 20 years ago. The replacement main is from a different knife pattern, and over the years he wore out the tang on it too.
But he kept that original main blade.
He sent me the knife, the original main, and a parts knife.
I restored the snap to his original blade and reinstalled it. Since I did not use the "parts knife", I patched the handle on it.
As soon as that epoxy cures and I can sand it, he will get back two working knives!
I hope to have videos of the repair posted on a week or so.

Nice save! Very unusual to wear out the tang on one, let alone two blades. You gonna tell him about oil?
