Help Identifying Possible Ka-Bar Pocketknife

This came out of a storage unit and the shield is unmarked, rubbed smooth. The only tang stamp is the number 6 (or 9). I've been told the handles are stag, and the criss cross pattern I've been told is unique. It is very well made, but I just don't have a clue. One person said it reminded them of a ka-bar pocketknife.

Any help would be appreciated!

The knife looks foreign to me; perhaps Japanese.

Here are two Sabre pocket knives, from Japan.
While NOT identical to yours, they do have the
"criss cross" handles.

Doesn't look like any KA-BAR I have ever seen. Handles are bone not stag. Sabre was a brand owned by Cole National who also owned KA-BAR for a time but the knives were not related to KA-BAR. The jigging pattern on the bone is common among knives made in Japan.

Should make a good user. Put it in your pocket. Otherwise, it’s a used knife from an unknown maker, so it’s not a collectable knife. A check of eBay sold listings finds similar knives have sold from $5 - $10, one recently sold for 99 cents.
