Very old Boker

Post by allang »

Hi from Australia,
I picked this up on Ebay recently. Only have a few Bokers, and don't know much about them, but this one caught my eye.
I suspect it is quite old. I love old knives ---- if only they could talk !
Closed length 3 inches, bone handles, half stops both blades, tang stamp "R&H Boker Improved cutlery", and "tree BB" on both blades (see photos).
Would love to see comments from Boker experts out there re age , history, possible value etc
Cheers
Allan G.

Heres a link to a Boker tang stamp chart. Your BB Tree is 3rd from top left as a footnote for smaller knives.
(in case it helps)

Thanks for the info. I thought it would be late 1800's

Welcome, If you go to "Tang Stamp Charts" on the Knife Q & A page here, scroll down to the Boker chart. You'll see the R & H Boker Improved Cutlery stamp for 1860-1865. It also says "without tree stamp on reverse, very rare". However it doesn't show a stamp with the tree on the reverse so it's a bit confusing. I'm guessing yours it still around those dates, just because the rest of the stamp is exactly the same. I'm certainly not an authority but It's a great old pattern. Good luck with it. J.O'.
