Thanks TopDog ... got my note pad handy. Sure I will learn something from you. You are ahead of me on the forge. I'm just practicing stock removal to begin with, then move to heat treating after I get a forge. Then after I get that and the handles satisfactory, I will try forging. Look forward to your pics!

Here it is CxIII, nothing fancy, the tube at the bottom blows air to the bottom of the fire and is connected to a blower (a motor for a blower to inflate an air mattress works fine). The tube also drops straight down to let the ash fall out and keep the pipe clear.

My humble "shop" (the garage of my apartment). Simple but effective. For knives, motorcycle parts, or anything else I need to make or fix.

Although I sweep the floor after each use (don't want to track bits of metal into my apartment), I am admittedly lazy about cleaning my bench. This is "mildly" messy.

Old school will get the job done TopDog ... You have thought it out well with the blower, etc. This part of our knife affair just may keep us from buying so many. I have bought only one in the last couple months, and sold quite a few knives from the collection to pay for the tools needed to do this. Anvil, hammers, tongs, and a forge are next on my list.

My "work bench" was originally an old cabinet that a neighbor was taking to the dump. It looked pretty sturdy, and I needed some kind of work bench, and it was a good size for my lodgings at the time (not much bigger than my current garage) so my neighbor gave it to me. I took the doors off so I could put a foot inside, and the top was only 1/4" thick, not thick enough for mounting a vise or the weight of a drill press, so I added a piece of plywood. That was back in my early 30's, I'm 55 now. It has served me well for the past 25 years.

The tool chest to the left of the bench I received as a gift, also in my early 30's. It's a no-name chest, but it's served me well also.

... I have bought only one in the last couple months, and sold quite a few knives from the collection to pay for the tools needed to do this. Anvil, hammers, tongs, and a forge are next on my list.

I have all the tools CxIII... I just need some cooler weather....☀

I am selling the Drenalin 37" and the Traverse. I hunt with the Drenalin 33.

Thank ya corn creek. Just bought my first mathews last year. It's a 29" phase 4 that had been sitting new on the rack for a couple years. I prefer a shorter ata bow. Been poking around trying to find a triax or v3 27

Shorter is definitely better in the woods, especially with a 30.5" DL. I have always shot Mathews ... guess I is a fanboy. I like to shoot bows at their max poundage, which is why I am selling the Traverse. It is 70 lbs., but I have had it at 65 the last couple years. At age 69, I can still draw it, but the 60 lbs. on the Drenalin is a lot more comfortable.

Quench tank added today, courtesy of my welding Neighbor Frank ... If my math is correct, it should hold about 2 gallons.
Been working on a small stock removal knife for him. He has claimed the first finished knife.
Can't say no ... He has saved me much $$ in setting all this up.

My father carried one for many years before giving it to my brother. I recently had that one to clean and sharpen it, I was really excited to find one of my own. It was rough, but it'll come around.

I'm not a lefty but my right hand was greasy from hand sanding with the aid of wd-40. Ever since working as a butcher i always try to utilize clean hand/dirty hand method whereby one hand is kept clean and sanitary, the other not so much.
