Case 6254 Trapper from 1996

Guys and Gals,
In recent collection, I got a trapper with bone handles and the handles look like Winterbottom bone. I know, I know, Case hasn't used Winterbotton since the Tested era as far as I can tell but these handles sure look like Winterbottom.
If anyone has any thoughts or better info, please chime in.

It’s second cut bone. Case used it on several patterns and dyed several different colors in the 1990s. It does resemble Winterbottom. I think they debuted in 1993 with Roman numeral date code stamp but by 1995-96 or thereabouts they had both Roman numeral and conventional date code stamps. (IIRC the Roman numeral stamps were an SFO series for SHC). They also called it “corn cob jigged” second cut bone at some point. Thanks, Ken. I had thought about that but with none of the little 'ridges' showing within the grooves, it just didn't seem right somehow.
Your top photo makes it clear.
And while we are on the subject, have you seen this shield before? I have looked everywhere and I can't find a thing on it. It must be a SFO but there oughta be a picture of it somewhere. The trapper is a 2006 version.

I have seen it before but don’t recall where. Probably eBay or the Case Collectors Club forum. Knifedb.com calls it “wire inlay long tail C shield”. Says it was in the 2006 factory catalog, so if it was an SFO it wasn’t exclusive to the SFO. Apparently used on several patterns. Here’s a screenshot from knifedb.com which says 63 different knives with that shield are pictured on knifedb.com
