Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Man, i recently discovered this pattern looking for knives with swedges and long pulls on a clip main blade with a secondary coping, and there is a lot to go through here!! I picked up a Camillus 72 Ole Smoky NOS and a Camillus 72 with the federal shield, but I'm happy to see there's so much variation out there for this pattern! I just wanted to say I'm really glad to find this information and that I really appreciate these posts!

Thank you for looking, RocksandRocks. 🍻
Please be sure to post any of your "CAMILLUS 72 CLONES" pocket knives here. ::tu:: ::tu::
When I started this topic or thread, I erroneously used the word "Clones" in the title.
If you substitute "CAMILLUS 72 CLONES" with "CAMILLUS 72 VARIATIONS", "CAMILLUS 72 WANNABES",
or "CAMILLUS 72 LOOKALIKES", the posts will make a little more sense.
If you find one that isn't on the previously posted list, PLEASE post it here.
Here is the link to the list.

This one cost me a dollar out of the bay but shipping inflated the price. No tang stamp, probably from China. Plastic handles. Don't know what it was commemorating back in 2003. My wife's from West Virginia so hillbilly days are fine with me.

Floyd, no matter what the country of origin is,
it is still a VERY G@@D LπŸ‘€KING, CAMILLUS "72"

Here is my, previously posted, cousin of your "HILLBILLY DAYS" pocket knife.
It is an UNBRANDED, three blades, 3 5/8" closed, swelled center, "whittler",
pocket knife. If I had to guess, I'd say mine is either from China or Pakistan. ::shrug::

Outside if the difference in color they sure look like kin. I think you are right on the origin. And they do seem to be well built. In Texas history an unbranded cow was called a maverick. I guess we have some maverick 72's.

Just received this one from AAPK store owner Ryan Snell. It has a broken coping blade and was priced accordingly. It has a Shapleigh Hardware tang stamp and the D E for diamond edge on the shield. This Tang stamp isn't in our clones list and it's the first one I have seen. Thanks again Ryan. Sorry for the poor pics.
