Re: Wood carving projects
Patriot hillbilly I carved on the 4th of July. Pictured with a new knife I bought on AAPK from Muskrat Man to add to my Old Timer, Uncle Henry collection. I didn't use this knife for the carving.

Nice carving, I like the paint, his hat reminds me of the red white and blue “Bomb-pop” popsicle.

A customer of my wife’s Deli is part owner of a broom and brush manufacturing company. My wife was going to be in the area with her sister and friend and he invited them to see the process(which she said was really neat). When the left he gave them all a broom and brush to take home, so I made a caricature carving of him as a gift. She’s going to surprise him with it next time he comes in to eat.

Looks great!
My latest carving a Santa in July. Carved with a Hammer brand pocket knife I bought for a couple bucks that I reshaped a broken blade tip on. Works great.

Re: Wood carving projects
Just wondering if any of the carvers here had ever done any carving on actual knife handle material? This is my only attempt, resulting in mixed results. The top " knife " is the first knife I had when I was a small kid, an Auburn rubber knife, which is a replica of a real folding hunter. I always wanted a real replica of the Auburn, so I made up the one shown from bar stock and sheet brass. The handle material is rosewood, which turned out to be too hard to carve by usual means. I ended up doing it with the Dremel tool. Like I said mixed results, kind of ended up looking like a zombie longhorn skull.

Not bad O.C I’ve tried to carve bone with my wood tools and it hasn’t worked well. As far as paka wood or rose wood o think it would be tough especially with whatever the stabilization process is.

This was a little doodle project I did with the Seahorse yesterday. Single piece ring in the center moves up and down and spins. It’s about a 1-1/8” long and 1/2” round.

Nice work guys!
This is my latest carving. Working on wheat harvest so if I have to wait for a truck I get to do a little whittling.
