Not a true switch...call it a "Semi-Auto" - ever seen one like it?
Recent antique show find - I have never seen one like it.
Sterling silver handles.
The center band slides - each blade has a hidden inner spring (not like the center-pinned spring like on a Schrade double button).
When you slide the band toward one end, the opposite end blade opens automatically to a partially open position so that you can open the blade manually all the way. Each blade works that way.
Note the unusual tang stam- small blade marked GERMANY but I have never seen the stamp (pictuured) on the large blade before.

You're welcome. I imagine the three S's in the tang stamp stand for "Schulder Stahlwaren Solingen".

Sweet little knife Steve! Not a common find by any means. This type of knife is called a "Novelty Sliding Band Knife' as covered on page 290 of the book "Switch Blades Exposed"
Here is a little example I have had for a few years made by the same company as your knife. Not as ornately done as your knife. The knife I have relies on a regular backspring but the blades each have a cam type feature on the closing side of the tang that makes the tang sit flush against the spring when the blades are open at the 25 to 30 degree position.
For what it's worth the mentioned book places a value on these knives of $150-$250. Copyright date for the book I have is 2015.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
