Question About Fight'n Rooster

Post by jfarmer »

I know that the old Fight'n Roosters are made in Germany. Are the new ones still made there? I assume that they are but I am not sure. Do they still say Frank Buster on them?

jfarmer, The tang stamp for Fight'n Roster has changed over the years if I remember right he started his knife line in 1977 and the tang read Frank Buster Cutlery Co. Germany, In 1982 it was changed to Frank Buster Celebrated Cutlery Germany, In late 1994 it was changed to Frank Buster and Son Celebrated Cutlery, as far as I know all his knives are still made in the same factory in Germany, bye the way the son's name is Sterling

Hope this helps

jfarmer (Are the new ones still made there?)

I think so. I still don't see many on the internet that say where they are mad. I do know that I miss understood one time about Fight'n Roosters.

If I remember correctly the Fightin' Rooster is made in the Friedrich Olbertz Factory in Solingen, West Germany (when there was an East and West). Same factory where Bulldog Brand knives are made. As far as I know the factory is still owned by the Gronauer family. Achim Gronauer was running the show an I believe he still is. 8)

That's interesting. I've had a few occasions to e-mail the Olbertz company with questions, and the person who always answers me is Friedrich Olbertz. I just assumed he was part of the family that owns it.

If anyone knows more about it, my curiosity is definitely piqued.

They have been in business as Friedrich Olbertz since 1872 but I do not know how long the Gronauer's have owned it.

Whoops  Kurt Gronauer was Senior President since 1958 and Achim Gronauer has been Junior President for the last 23 years. I wonder if Kurt Gronauer is ready to retire, he would be about 77 years old now.
