Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
It varies in different time periods or maybe over only a few years. When my Select knives were made in the 1990s Case's standard brass liners and pins were replaced with nickel silver. While less expensive 08 and 47 Whittlers were being made with 3 springs similar to most of the 3 blade slip joints Buck made themselves Select 08 and 47 Whittles got a wedge seperating their two springs at their secondary blade end. Select master clip blades were shaped some what like Buck 301 Stockman blades and had a long pull. Also, handle sides more expensive than bone usually went on Select knives. Case has not been consistant with Select features. Other members who own Select knives from other time periods can describe them.treefarmer wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 8:47 pm Thanks for the explanation, Q.![]()
What does Select indicate compared to others dotted Case knives of the same period?

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Thanks for this information. I know a few of my older Case knives have nickel silver liners but they were made way before the time frame of these Select knives.Modern Slip Joints wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 5:44 pmIt varies in different time periods or maybe over only a few years. Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Some days my watch pocket knife is a 1965-1969 6308 small Whittler with nickel silver liners, spring wedge and pins. Its red bone is very worn and its master blade is small from sharpening but it was only $10 at a gun show. I wonder how early Case used nickel silver liners.treefarmer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 6:22 pm [...] a few of my older Case knives have nickel silver liners but they were made way before the time frame of these Select knives.

Scored this 2011 WR Case 6111 1/2 Cheetah off the bay today. Pristine condition and razor sharp. With box and Case wrapper.

Thanks guys. I love the cheetah pattern and the color. I seriously don't think I have found a sharper knife out of the box than this one. Truely razor sharp.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I recently acquired this Case 2 and 5/8 inch pen knife. It has the Case tang stamp which I understand to be pre 1920, so that makes it the oldest Case knife I own. Just wondering, is the handle material on this one celluloid? It looks yellow, but one can see a white line when looking at the edges.

I have the 4 blade Small Congress in smooth natural bone, good fit in the pocket, but not a heavy work knife for sure. That Barlow you posted is very nice, the gray with the large bolster looks good.sgteldridge wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 5:14 pm My 1st Small congress came today. Picked this 6111-1/2 up at the pawn shop today. I made a repair request to Case to get the guards replaced.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Great stuff, guys!
Went up to Cabela's in Hamburg, PA several weeks ago and picked up this 6220 Peanut.
An oddity for me, here's why.
My preferred length is 3-1/4 to 4-1/4, the 6318 being perfect at 3-5/8. I also prefer the 3-bladed stockmans.
Another oddity is that I'm really getting attached to this little Peanut pattern!

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
First post and first Peanut! I just picked up this great little Peanut for a song. The owner didn’t know much about it and listed it as a synthetic. If I’m not mistaken, isn’t this a 1998 jigged red bone or pocket worn red bone? Certainly doesn’t feel or look like brown synthetic.

Small Stockman, as found. 5 dot 6233ss. Was kinda dull when I found it, only took about 13 seconds to get it right.
It is indeed tiny.
