Case , Eyeball,Cigar or Stockman

Post by hilbillyconquest »

Moderators if this is in the wrong forum please move. I am new here but I wanted to tell you guys about my German eyeball and get your opinion.
I was working with a man that made me give him a dollar for it in the mid 90s.
He said it was bad luck to give a knife away.
I have carried it in my pocket everyday since,30 years. I wish now I had taken better care of it. It recently lost a bolster end and I thought about getting it replaced and fixed. It does mean a lot to me.
Lost it once and a buddy found it for me. I can’t lose it now.
The man now close to 80 has been diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread all over.
Doesn't have long left on this earth.
He just told me , “I’m just waiting on my ride kid…”
I am going to retire the eyeball the day his ride comes.
But I need one to replace it.
I wanted a case knife my birth year.
I have a smaller case Cigar Jack and just came across this Stockman.
Both in new condition. I am kinda set on one of these two. But I thought I would ask which one you guys would chose. I'm not sure which yet.
But one will probably be with me when my ride comes…
Thanks for the insight guys. I really don’t know much about them. The cigar I have had for years put up. I just bought the stockman on eBay for a good deal to the seller lol. Both are 7 dot with what I believe redbone handles but the stockman looks really dark?

Please keep my friend in your prayers.

Love to hear the stories behind the knives, and that's a good one. The good Lord has our days in His hands, and while we may not agree, His time is best.

My mind said STOCKMAN as I started reading your post. Then I saw the cigar. Wow! That one is sweet!
You wouldn't be making a bad choice with either one of them.
Take care and God bless,

Personally I'd go with the stockman. 3 different blades, all do something better than the other blades.
To me, it boils down to why do you carry a knife? Did they German Eye serve all your needs? What blades does the German Eye have? Which one feels best in the hand and pocket?
Both of your Case knives are topnotch!
My EDCs are either a full sized stockman or a full sized trapper and the stockman probably gets more use.

Who don’t not like a stockman?

Specialy a case

Sorry to learn about your buddy. Maybe hang around here and get to know some of the talented knife mechanics here and get the yellow work horse perked up.

Definitely a very personal choice.

The Cigar Jack is a better looking knife in my personal opinion but I would want the Sheepsfoot blade on the Stockman.

Difficult decision for sure.
