Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Obviously, some of these guys have talent they should be using it for something good though. I can imagine a lot of the paint is stolen .

Lady Luck smiled down on me this morning.....we are on a few days getaway to SE Wisconsin, I was just preparing to turn left out of a parking lot when I heard an approaching train and crossing lights began flashing to my right. So, I felt obligated to turn right and wait at the crossing. I could only see about 100 yards up the tracks due to trees and a curve, I fully expected some ho-hum class I loco to come into view. I was pleasantly surprised when this Wisconsin & Southern sd40 came rumbling by!!! 8)

Very nice shot Ike.
Not sure where south eastern Wisconsin is, does not sound like you are too far from IRM. Either way may you have safe travels.

We were a little north of Milwaukee, Steve. Normally, I would have gone up 294, but we had to take a more westerly route a little further from Elgin. The IRM is definitely on my list, and when it happens I will be contacting you. Thanks for the comment. ::handshake::

Just so you know Ike if you are traveling north/south on interstate 39 you are definitely closer to Union than on 294.
Hopefully you get this way this summer.

Cool catch, Ike. You never know what you might find when you're out roaming around. ::nod::👍

As John (1967redrider) said recently, " you never know what you might find........"
I saw the gates come down at a crossing and an approaching CN local that I see nearly every day. Then, I see it is pulling some South Shore Freight cars. Chicago South Shore & South Bend operates on less than 200 miles of track about 5 hours North of me, don't know how they ended up in my area. The name refers to the South shore of Lake Michigan, and not to be confused with the South Shore commuter line which runs from Chicago to Northern Indiana. Anyway, as a fan of short line rr, it was nice to see something different, and thought I would post a pic.

Cool shots, Ike. ::tu:: And South Shore, to me, could mean Chicago to Kansas City or New York. 🤭

I saw some U.P. at Argentine Yards in Kansas City, Steve. Once in a blue moon, I'll see BNSF or U.P. in Cumberland, but I've never seen any here in Alexandria.

Sunset shots from Kansas. With these long summer evening’s and the sun setting farther north it makes for some spectacular sunsets
