R4283 Sowbelly

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

R4283 Sowbelly

Post by Bradfordguy »

I found two Remington Sowbelly in my collection this weekend. One is pocket worn and the other is pristine. I saw a couple other mentions of the Sowbelly and I wondered what people like about this knife.

What an awesome knife!! I love the crooked frame and the shield is really an eye catcher. You are a lucky man to have 2 of them.

What’s not to like? From the days when folks carried a knife to use it. Big enough to actually do serious work (more than cleaning fingernails and opening the mail!), with different blades for different jobs. ::tu::

Like Ken said, a blade for every occasion. Love the hourglass shield too. 😎👍
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Wow, that one is a beauty!
I love the way a sowbelly knife feels in the hand when using it. It is very comfortable to hold and use.
