June 2025 AAPK Monthly Knife Giveaway

Post by bestgear »

For the month of June things are getting a little hot both with the weather outside and with the monthly knife giveaway. A strong forum contributor, Ivoryman (Brian) has decided to rehome his 2022 GEC Tidioute Cutlery 3 blade split spring Shaffer Farm Whittler sleeveboard pattern #592322. This is Brian’s first donation to the monthly knife giveaway, and he has swung for the fence with this knife!

This knife features mint chocolate green jigged bone handles, a propeller shield, a main spear, secondary pen and coping blades, is 5.625” long open, 3.625” long closed, and 0.4375” thick. This knife comes brand new in the tube, was never used, sharpened or carried, has a good snap and is tight with no wobble, blades are well centered, smooth transition from open to close and everything is well done.

You can’t win if you don’t play.

Good Luck!
Instructions for entering the giveaway...

Simply click here and select a number between 0 and 999.

You will have until June 30th (6:00 P.M. Eastern) to pick a number, after which entries will not be considered. The first-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM after the drawing and will have three days to respond with contact and shipping information. If the first-place winner does not respond within three days, the knife will be offered to the next player on the list without going over.

The next-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM, and they will have one day to respond with contact and shipping information. If the next-place winner does not respond within one day, the knife will be offered in the same manner to the next player on the list without going over.

Again, good luck to all eligible participants!

Many thanks all above who commented. I appreciate the nice things said and really want all of you to know I'm grateful for all those generous givers to these give-a-ways and the bombers and just wanted to follow the excellent examples set before. Glennbad had some drawings and picked me once, and a few bombers have flown over and just wanted to contribute something like these others have done. Glad all of you get these chances, you're welcome, and good luck to all who enter. Thanks again for all donations. ::handshake:

The 2022 GEC Tidioute Cutlery 3 blade split spring Shaffer Farm Whittler sleeveboard pattern #592322 that Ivoryman (Brian) had intended to donate this month is being substituted to remove any burden from his widow Cindy to locate and ship the knife to the eventual winner. Brian’s best friend is QTCut5 (Quintus) and Q has stepped-up to cover the pledge that Brian made to the June 2025 Monthly Knife Giveaway. I am humbled by this voluntary display of love and friendship and honored to represent Q’s decision.
This GEC Tidioute #34 Unicorn Ivory was a "Bomb" given to me by Ivoryman right after this pattern dropped in 2023. He was so excited about its release because of the Wharncliffe master blade and secondary pen blade both on a single spring to keep it nice and slim, features we both appreciated in a pocket knife. While we would have preferred genuine ivory handle scales (naturally), the Unicorn Ivory Acrylic made it more utilitarian; although, I never carried or used this knife...it was only displayed and occasionally coon-fingered lovingly. Though my photos of it certainly won't end up on any calendars, I tried to get some shots out in nature to honor Ivoryman's natural knife photography. I think he would approve, and probably say something like, faaaaaaaaabuuuuulous!

Mahalo, Tom...your expert touch in navigating the many intricacies that arise on AAPK is remarkable and much appreciated. You always seem to know the perfect words to say. ::handshake::

Although due to the unfortunate circumstances with Ivoryman's sudden departure this trivial piece of information is no longer applicable, I thought I'd share it anyway. The original GEC that was pledged for this month's giveaway held hidden symbolic significance to Ivoryman. Brian's birthday was June 2 and he had just turned 59 years old. That is why he chose the GEC #59 as his offering.

R.I.P., Ivoryman. Gone too soon from this realm, but forever with us in our hearts. ::teary_eyes::
