here is a little wards-made in u.s.a. i picked up. 3 5/8" closed. according to brl, they were made from 1935 -1950. western, winchester and utica. this one is probably made by utica. anyway, it's a solid little folder with no handle damage. blades were improperly sharpened but it's still a cool useable knife. if anybody know more about it let me know.

Based on what I have observed, the pre-WWII WARDS pocketknives were made by Winchester. The post-WWII pocketknives by Utica (similar to the KUTMASTER marked knives of the era). I agree that yours is a Post-WWII Utica made knife.

An interesting tidbit....later pocketknives for Monkey Wards (probably late 60's to early 70's) were made by Camillus and were not marked WARDS but instead POWR-KRAFT, which was the trademark for MW's line of tools (I imagine named to compete with the SEARS CRAFTSMAN line).

thanks for the confirmation knifeaholic. i know it has little collector value but it's small hunk of american cutlery history. and not bad for a 50+ year old store brand knife.

I think that's a pretty good lookin' knife Johnnie. It's probably still under warranty, if it's still in the catalog.
