What the heck was the reason for that one. Seems Case completely forgot the KISS principle.

Re: case #6001 trifold
the main reason being, when open and in use it COULD NOT close up on you and cut you, a very safe to use deisgn, much like the neft saftey knife. and as far as KISS whats more simple than a knife with no backspring to weaken or break or bolsters?

Does this one have green bone handles? They are very expensive,if handles are in good shape.

I've never seen those before. I love those with the bone scales.

Re: case #6001 trifold
Both those knives (the old ones) are quite nice.
I see this pattern rather frequently, but by KaBar, not Case.
I'd be interested in knowing how the pattern went from Case, with examples being quite rare, to KaBar, with examples just about everywhere, seemingly.

Re: case #6001 trifold
Marbles made fish knives like that with nickel silver handles, they still make a Chinese version. Never seen a Case before, thanks for posting it! That bone is very nice.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: case #6001 trifold
I do have one of the case number 6001 trifold knives. The scales are the most beautiful things I've seen. I have a lot of books, but I have never seen it in them. I'm glad to see this information so I tell the kids not to give it away. Mine, I have not polished as that's the way I prefer collecting. Thanks for all the input fellows. JK.

Re: case #6001 trifold
I have one, as do several others here. Mine has beautiful Rogers Worm groove bone covers. Courtesy of the keyword search here are some more posts and pictures. search.php?keywords=6001&terms=all&auth ... mit=Search
Here are a few pictures of mine. (It’s not polished either). After some research I have concluded they were made for Case on contract by Union Cutlery/KA-BAR in the 1920s. Although the stamps say CASE BRADFORD and CASE’s TESTED XX, which on a Case pocket knife would indicate an earlier manufacturing date, the patent for this design belongs to KA-BAR and is from 1924. The stamps on it more likely conform to dates used on Case’s hunting knives. JMO. The CASE 6001 is seldom seen, however there are a lot of KA-BAR examples around, having synthetic black or yellow covers.

I think all the Case marked ones were made for them by Union Cut.

Re: case #6001 trifold
Thanks! Makes you wonder why someone hasn’t duplicated it, or pried the old tooling out of mothballs.
Sure would make some beautiful knives!
