Camillus knife info, what model, is it a collector, special edition.
Hi all! New member here, and glad to find a group of knife lovers such as myself. I have a question about a knife that was left to me after my father’s passing, along with all of his collection of other knives and guns which he had a passion for. Which of course I fell in love with as well, and that became the biggest and strongest bond that my father and I shared and did together throughout our relationship. But I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about this knife which he never spoke of or showed to me, but made clear in his will it was to go to me, which followed with my entire collection. I do believe that it has never come out of the box except maybe when he would make sure it kept its brilliance because that was something he said all the time! “Son the most important part of owning a knife is you always clean it before putting it away, so that it does not tarnish or rust!” I’m sure it is still in the same position as it was when it was originally placed inside the box and has the original instructions for how to care for it as well, you know! The do’s and dont’s) haha! But any info on it would be greatly appreciated, such as when it was made, is it part of a collectors series, is it considered valuable or sought after, was it a limited edition etc. It would mean a lot to me to know as much about it as I could and nice to have so that I will be able to share that about it, when I leave it to my son some day! Thank you guys for this awesome site and many blessings to you all!

Sorry about your father. Glad that you & him shared 2 great passions.
Here’s a picture of when that particular tang stamp was used.

Check that folded "care" paperwork closely. Frequently, there is a copyright date printed in fine print that will at least give you a clue as to when the supporting paperwork was published and therefore a clue as to the EARLIEST that a particular item was packaged. Most of the time, that supporting paperwork was not kept with user knives, so complete setups give up little tidbits of information.

It’s a good looking knife and obviously a very special one for you.

Thank you! I have a lot of great memories over the years that I cherish. I found that same site that pic of the tang stamp but I’ll still can’t find the knife and if it was apart of a law enforcement series like the scout and military ones they have. I keep coming to dead ends.

I couldn’t find any dates but it does have 2 patent numbers and 4 numbers with either ghe letter B, or S, or Y after the 3 numbers I’m assuming is the knife numbers but it didn’t pull up this knife! But I’m determined to find it. Thank you for that information!zzyzzogeton wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 4:53 pm Check that folded "care" paperwork closely. Sorry, but that’s as much help as I can give. I was the same way with my father. What he passed down to me is cherished by me and hopefully someday by my sonsSFXMAN wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 6:53 pm

I looked through the Camillus catalogs that I have access to and the Marshall's Service knives do NOT appear in any catalog for 1990 to 2006.
It may be that they only appeared in a brochure that hasn't surfaced.
The knife series is mentioned only twice over on bladeforums. one referencing a model 717, a two blade trapper. The other with no pictures references a 3 blade stockman, with no model number, but I would assume it had a Camillus stockman model number.
The 3 blade stockman shows up a few times on worthpoint but the descriptions never indicate a year or model number.
