Walmart Find - Switchblade!

Post by ToyLvr »

So, I was looking at the Wally-World website looking for one of their occasional deals on a good knife (Buck, etc). I came across one of their cheapos called “Doom Blade” for $7.99 that looked interesting. See attached photos.

At a casual glance, it was a modern-looking folder with ~3” blade and “wood” scales, and I assumed it was a flipper. I ordered it and it showed up in just a couple days, $7.99 + tax, no shipping charges.

Much to my surprise, it’s a SWITCHBLADE! Approximately 3.15” drop point blade (no markings for blade material). Pushbutton actuated with a safety. Razor sharp right out of the package. Comes with a nylon sheath - no pocket clip.

Build quality is what you’d expect, but it serves its purpose as box opener, etc.

Check the WalMart website if you’re interested.

Are they sold by Walmart, or by a third party vendor on the Walmart website? I've bought items off the Walmart website that were sold by third party vendors and Walmart had nothing to do with the items.

Walmart is just like Amazon, allowing others to sell items on their site.

EDIT: I just checked, and it looks like the knife is being sold by a third party vendor calling themselves "DOOMBLADE".

That's a cool model you have, TL, here are some I bought before I could get my hands on quality autos, and these will always serve as great knives for "click therapy"! ::groove::

Mine didn't come from Walmart, I got them from www.DHgate.com , www.AliExpress.com , and www.Etsy.com . The first 2 are Chinese sites, and I don't know where Etsy is, Ireland perhaps? ::shrug::

All were similar in price to what you paid, but some required paid shipping which was usually more than the knife! ::facepalm::

The AK-47 in the last picture is a big ole' heavy knife weighing probably 8-10 ounces!

There wasn’t any “item number” or “SKU”, just a photo of the knife on the WalMart website. It did come from a third party source. Upon closer examination of the website photos, they don’t show the exact switchblade, only a “manual” knife. You might get the unit I received, or you might receive the manually operated unit. I was sure surprised!

Many sites will hide or disguise the buttons or levers in their pictures as a way of selling autos to still restricted countries, so chances are you'll get an auto.

Good one, John, I'll do my best to keep thinking non-AK-47 thoughts and certainly won't carry it with me, it's so heavy my jeans would be down around my ankles! ::doh::

I have the little brother to this one that I got from Bladebuddy in last year's POS Exchange. Danged handy little knife, and it hasn't given me a single problem.

However, Etsy's headquarters are located in Brooklyn, New York, USA [Wikipedia: Etsy]. They also have other offices around the world, but the headquarters is the main location.

I wasn't aware the Canadian Police could think that well, especially when it comes to Canadian cyber-police. No offense, it is a personal observation from past experiences. I am a Cybersecurity and Digital Defense Expert.

Yep, you got that right, S-dog, especially their Customs agents!
No offence taken, also from past experiences!
I'm not a Cy-se nor D-D-E, just a nice guy who loves automatic knives that keep getting stolen by shady Customs agents who then add them to their personal collections!

Thanks for the info about Etsy, I was certain I saw on their Homepage or in one of their emails that they're H-Q'd in Ireland, which I actually found kindda odd.
