If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Thank you Floyd and Tony. The dark part of his wings and tail feathers took me 2 days to outline and burn in. ::dang::

Thank you very much Phil. I wish I had discovered this art years ago, I get so much pleasure and relaxation
out of doing it. Now I'm getting more and more requests for specific types of scenes.

Haven't done much woodburning lately because of health issues but here are three I was able to finish up.

I do, for my work Basswood is the best. It's a soft wood and burns well on lower temps. If I'm adding color with charcoal artist pencils it takes the color well and then I seal it with spray or liquid polyurethane. If my project is large in size or if I just want a different look walnut or maple are good woods. With those you have to use a higher temp. Try never to use pine, it's hard to get a good line because of the grain and you can end up with unintended burn spots because of the sap still in the wood. You have to be really careful of any exotic woods that have been treated with chemicals for shipment to the U.S. When you start to burn your design I'm told that some of the chemicals can create a smoke that is toxic. It's best to wear protective hand and face gear anyway.
Thanks for the question,
