Coke knife?

Post by mrwatch »

Hi, I am looking for age and value of a Coka Cola knife. Sorry no pictures. It is a round disk about the same as a half dollar coin. A tab for a chain. Two blades only marked USA pull out from the sides. Scales are Mother of pearl or plastic? Marked Coka Cola and in bottles 5c or 5 cents. She knows her father had it at least 50 years ago.
Colonial made knives similar acording to one book at the library. Thanks, Bob

Last weekend or early this week a seller on EekBay
had several Coke knives listed. They came up in a search
for 'Coca-Cola' under the folding knives modern 70 and up
category found under collectibles.
Several small novelty types as well as Case w/advertising logo.
In general, I don't think the small keychain type round like a coin
knives have much value or demand.
Diameter of the coin severely limits blade to not much more
than a nail cleaner or letter opener.
There would be a huge difference between novelty plastic and
a mother of pearl. No name brand knife co. on the tang normally
would indicate it isn't a highline item.
And along with age of the item, value can vary widely based on
condition, condition, and condition.
This is my general opinion based on very little and I certainly know
even less about Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Which I'm sure (72%) is as indepth a field of study as the Barbie
dolls or original Mattel Matchbox cars.
About all I know about Cokes is more than one a day runs my blood
sugar way up and I like the 25 1/2 Case cokes.
That's what I was doing in the 'Coca-Cola' EekBay search thingy.

Both Levine's Guide and John Goins states these round Coca-Cola knives to be fantasy items, i.e. they were never authorized by The Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
