I do not collect Winchester knives but have a few. Lots of Winchester counterfeits and I haven’t taken the time to learn enough to seriously pursue them. I don’t have many references for Winchester knives. Probably my best resource is this compilation of old Winchester catalogs which contains over 50 pages of Winchester knives. Publication date is 2000. It also has Winchester sporting goods, lawn mowers, sewing machines, paint, and myriad other products bearing the Winchester logo. And of course firearms and ammunition. I found the book several years ago at an estate sale.

And Mumbleypeg I will be on the lookout for that book. I didn't realize the Winchester name was on so many products.

Are they any good reference books on Winchester Knifes? I started collecting them but haven't been able to find much information on them as far as books.

I found a book years ago called "Price Guide to 2000 Winchester and Marble's Hardware Collectibles" by Larry and Roy Ehrhardt. It was published in 1973. The prices are useless in today's market, but it has a nice selection of photos and a good amount of reference number information.

I kick myself in the butt every time I think about all of the knife books that I walked past at yard and garage sales. Most of the books I passed on weren't relevant to me at the time but now they would be a treasure trove of information and just cool to look through. If I could turn back time, my yard and garage sale tactics would be very different.

Regarding sources of info on Winchester knives, Sargent’s Guide to Knives, both the 1st and 5th editions, have info and multiple pages of actual photos of Winchesters. There is nothing about Winchester in either the 6th or 7th editions. There may be something in other editions but the 1st, 5th, 6th and 7th are the versions I have.

Several (maybe all?) editions of The price Guide to Collector Knives by Houston Price also have sections on Winchester.
