Robeson knives
I inherited a set of carved Robeson knives. I am not a collector and believe these knives would be better in the hands of someone who appreciates them. Where do I go about getting the proper information I need to sell them? And what are the best options/websites to go about doing so? They are not pocket knives. There is a carving set as well as a set of 6 smaller knives that I would compare to the size of a steak knife. I know they were originally obtained in Germany but know nothing else about them. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated?
Re: Robeson knives
Sadly, there are very few folks who collect carving or steak knives so they really aren't worth much. Probably made in the late 1950s-mid 1960s, the Robeson knives made in Germany are not really collectable either. You can probably find some on ebay, enter your description and when you find them go to "sold items" on the left toolbar and you will see what they actually have sold for. Just looking at ebay asking prices is worthless since many folks ask the sky and never sell them.

Agree. German imports from the 50’s and early 60’s.
These type sets were bought and given as wedding or anniversary, birthday or Christmas gifts and usually put away in a buffet cabinet and seldom used, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Now, the recipients of them are dying or have died and the heirs don’t want them, so they end up on Ebay or in a thrift store.
Sets range from small two or three pieces to a dozen or so if steak knives are included.
Carved antler sets like yours will sometimes have heavily etched and gold embossed blades depicting German hunting, fishing or game scenes, like bear and stag, etc.
Realized prices on Ebay range from No Sale to $25 to $125.00.
I am not knowledgeable enough to appraise your set. It’s nice. It’s perfectly functional, but it’s not going to bring much money in any market and as Gunsil says, it’s not considered collectible.
Probably not what you were hoping to hear when you came here, I’m sorry.

Actually this is very helpful. I an inclined to give the knives away but didn't want to be a poor steward of them if they were important ... Appreciate your feedback. Hopefully I will find someone who will enjoy the set! Thank you so much!
