SOME IM SURE ARE JUST SITTIN OUT THIS TIME.
BUT SOME ARE FOLKS WHO EXRPRESSED WANTING TO SIGN UP TO ME
BUT HAVENT YET.

4PM EASTERN I WILL TAKE NO MORE ENTRIES.

4PM EASTERN WAS NOT CHOOSEN RANDOMLY.
LIKE I SAID IN THE BEGINING I AM JUST USING THE GOOD OLE "NAME IN A HAT" TRICK.
MY DAUGHTER IS THE PERSON CHOOSING.SHE IS AT SCHOOL AND PROGRAMS AFTER UNTIL
ABOUT 6PM EASTERN. I WILL HAVE EVERYTHING READY FOR HER WHEN SHE GETS IN.

I HAVE TRIED VERY HARD TO MAKE SURE NO ONE MISSES OUT
ON THE FUN! THIS IS JUST ONE MORE WAY. ::tu::

::ds:: ::ds:: EDIT#2-ATTENTION- IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP FOR THIS RT,REGARDLESS IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN PREVOIUS TABLES,I NEED YOU TO PLEASE SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS.[/size] ::ds:: ::ds:: ::ds::

if you read ahead you will see some dicsussion about changing the format of this partiuclar roundtable.the group has decided that this particular roundtable follow the original format
listed under the rules section just shortly below. please see those rules.thank you.

hey its been a bit and i was wondering if anybody wanted to get another table going. ::ds::

for anyone just joining aapk a roundtable is lots of fun!!!

EDIT- FOR THOSE WHO ARE NEW. A ROUNDTABLE IS SIMPLE.
IF YOU LIKE TRADING KNIVES OR EVEN IF YOU NEVER HAVE TRADED BUT YOU WANT O THEN ROUNDTABLES ARE FOR YOU.
LIKE GOOD FOLKS AND MAKING NEW FRIENDSHIPS THEN ROUNDTABLES ARE FOR YOU.
PLEASE SEE LINK TO OLD ROUNDTABLE.ITS TONS OF FUN.
REMEMBER BRAND NEW IN THE BOX KNIFE IS NOT NEEDED.IT HAS TO BE A NICE KNIFE BUT
CAN BE FROM YOUR CURRENT COLLECTION.} ALSO THIER ARE NO RESTRICTIONS
ON ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANNA SEND INLCUDING MORE THEN ONE KNIFE.
THIS EDIT IS JUST TO HELP ANSWER SOME OF THE MOST COMMON MESSAGES I HAVE GOTTEN.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THIS PAST ROUNDTABLE TO SEE ALL THE FUN AND OF COURSE BEAUTIFUL KNIVES!

here is a link to the last one http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... =2&t=14079

i figured by the time all is done knives would be sent out and received right around
thanksgiving!!! lets show each other how much we appreciate each other.

i volunteer my time to handle the drawing of names and so forth unless by some rule im not supposed to.i have the time to do it.plenty of it.
more importantly though i would consider it to be an honor my friends. ::tu::

lots of folks also ask for the rules to be posted before they sign up
so here would be the rules.
if any problems let me know but most of it was just copied from
last rt. most important rule in my personal opinion is to send what you would be
proud to receive. ::tu::

RULES:

Knife must NOT be made in China.
Knife must be of at least $35 MINIMUM value.
Knife must be something you would like to receive yourself. (No junkers)
doesnt mean send a russlock becuase you like russlocks, even though you can.
what this means is send something you would be proud to send/receive.
the rest of the rules i removed becuase they are about dates and lenghts of
time but i updated them right BELOW HERE...

if folks are ready to play again i would say to please state here on this post that you are
"IN" by NOVEMBER 3rd. this will give everyone a 2 week window.
during this time i would simply need anyone who wants to play to PM me your address.

on NOVEMBER 4th i will do things the ole fashion way and put all the names in a hat,mix em all up and have
my daughter EMMA draw them.

i will post the names on that same day 11/04/09 to this post.its a school day
so it will be after 5pm eastern time.
within 24 hours or less of doing so i will pm the name and mailing address of the person you are to send knife to.

you will then have another 2 week window to choose what you are sending
and send it out. i would say all packages should be in the mail no later then
NOVEMBER the 18th {11/18/09}

then once you receive your packages posting photos is not mandatory
at all.dont wanna exclude anyone for any reason.
pictures if you can post them are a great way of showing of your new goodies
and an even better way of saying thank you!

also RT's are a great way to meet folks and maybe make a great friend along the way! ::tu::

anyway let me know here if you are in!

Hey Pete,
I would like to see a roundtable of Flea Market Treasures.
Knives that you paid $15 or less for, no China or Pakistan knives, blades must be 75% or more, and knife must be functional & usable, (partly broken handles are OK if the knife is still usable).

The reason I find this this intriguing is that there are some cool flea market or garage sale finds that are inexpensive, but are really good users and some real treasures.

The appeal of the roundtable to me is the element of surprise. What could be more surprising than getting a very inexpensive treasure?

I just think that would be fun.
What does everyone think about it?

hey dale,

hey i remember that idea from the last rt.

i also put up a german/english rt.

if the group wants to switch this rt up thats fine with me of course!

what i personally think about the RT like the one your discussing dale is that it would be great!

you have to consider though alot of folks dont collect flea market finds.

in the end i just dont wanna exclude anybody.plus folks have already signed up with the posted rules.only a few but they would have to re-ok.

its about the group and keeping it simple and fun!

hey dale if the group wants to stick with the posted rules please still attend the table. ::tu::

The knife doesn't have to come from a flea market, just a cool knife that someone doesn't have a lot of money in, that meets the other criterion, it could even come from eBay..
I just think it would be fun for guys who can't afford the more expensive knives.
They could still get in on a Roundtable and participate.

We don't have to do it this time, but I think it would be fun.
I know there are members here who find fantastic knives for very little money.

Hey Pete, If we do go the flea market route what about the Jap knives? There were some pretty fair blades to come out of Seki in the 70s and 80s. Just a thought ::shrug::

japanese knives have been acceptable in every roundtable
i have attended.

i also agree with you on the 70s-80s knives.

the taylor stags that came out during 1979-81 rocked! ::tu::

their are plenty of seki made knives that would easily exceed the 35$
mark.even if used somewhat.actually its funny you say that becuase
if you look at the last roundtable that was done one of the last pics is of a
taylor stag.

it looks like by the PMs im getting its gonna be the original rules set
but i cant speak for others.so i have asked those who have written me a
PM to please voice their opinion here.

I read the entire thread about the last roundtable when I first joined up. Great idea, & kudos to Pete for firing up another. I must say though, I've got flea market finds coming out my ears, & if we'd go with the original idea, I'd be more than pleased to pull up a seat to the table. ::tu::

Im IN on the roundtable where ya
send a $35 knife and recieve same.. Ive always been
happy with what I recieved. Im sure
this will continue...

Doubtful that I have a 1/2 German + 1/2 US with 1/16th Aussie mix,
due to hiding in the woodshed, dressed as the milkman,
measuring 162cm or more
with history of it shipping thru Portugal prior to a quick blessing
at a Buddist temple, then landing in a pawn shop beside
a Waffle House..

Please include me in again. I'll probably have to go buy something tho, because most all of my knives are either way over $35, or are too old and used to give away. I also have a lot of specialty types (scout, electrician's, hook bills, switchblades, and even fixed blades) that I would feel funny sending to someone unless I knew that he liked that type. Of course, it would be free, and you never know how a person is going to react to a knife until he actually holds it in his hand.  ::paranoid:: ::nod::  ::tu:: ::td:: Jim

Jim;
The first one I did I had many of the same doubts you do, put your mind at ease!
A solution might be a PM to who ever you draw asking about their tastes. Also, even with the 35.00 floor I doubt many of the knives swapped will be that, look at the last couple go arounds. I got a Stag Case last time... (Thanks again Paul!)
I can Guarantee it cost the sender much more than 35.00, and even if he got a great deal on it it is worth much more.
I think if you send something you are proud to have owned, the recipient will be as well. And you will get something you will like in return...
