What do ya'll think about the new Case Humpback Whittler and Stockman?

I haven't purchased one, but I sure do like the looks of them. Maybe I can talk Santa in to bringing me one.

I tried to order one of the G10 humpback whittlers when they came out, but they were on back order, so I postponed it. I like the looks of them. I'd still like to get one.

TM, you might try this site; looks like they have it in stock. Not a big fan of newer Case knives; felt their quality has been lacking for years. May need to take another look.

I really like the stag version in both models. But then I have always been a sucker for GNARLY stag. I do a lot of business with Matthews Cutlery out of GA. As soon as they get a stag model in I am first on the list. I have bid on several of them on ebay but there is always somebody who wants it a little more than I do if you know what I mean!!

I have both the stag humpback stockman and the G-10 whittler, currently the G-10 is getting a work out here in the Gulf of Mexico and I have not been disappointed Here is a link you can check out if ya want

I think their quality has been lacking also and the newest case knife I had was in the 80's ,but got my first muskrat in a trade few weeks ago and was impressed ,it is a 2005,

I have a stag Humpback Stockman that is as close to perfect as I have seen on a new Case knife. It rivals the new Swayback Jack in quality. No gaps in the springs, no blade wobble, sharp, snap, stag is really nice. Can't really find anything to complain about.

I have an '08 Amber Bone medium stockman. The scales don't meet the bolsters perfect at the corners but close enough that it does not bother me. Springs, blades etc. are fine.

I'm going to get a Canoe when I can.

hey cowboy.

here ya go. here is a just a random link.

i chose it because its a CASE knife and it has a HUMPBACK.

sometimes knife expressions arent that literal but in this case it couldnt get more
literal.

a humpback knife is just that. any pattern of any type of knife but with the back "HUMPED"

as the knife in the link. its stockman pattern but its back/spine/springs are HUMPED.

I also have the stag stockman and the black G10 whittler. They're both nice but I like the whittler pattern more. They both have nice swedged blades but the whittler has 3 backsprings and the stockman only has 2.

I am sorry, my question was incomplete.

WHY is it humpbacked? Does it have a hinge or pin in the backspring that supposedly makes it work better, or differently?

I bought the burnt bone whittler on a pre order and the fit and finish was perfect, it is even sharp. I think Case's quality is getting better I have several of the chestnut bone knives in c.v. and the quality is as good as Great Eastern in my opinion. I have some older Case knives, a blue lapis medium stockman and the blade grind on the main blade was uneven eating up half of the blades tip. It is crazy that Case would let unskilled workers haft and sharpener their high end premium knives. Oh well I still buy them and I think Case is improving in the quality department.
