Do you know why I didn't use the word Canittler? Because for some peculiar reason the spelling of the word gives me fits as in- Two ns; no that can't be right. One t or two? But aren't two ls more likely? The heck with it! It shall simply be a gunboat.

Believe it or not, I fretted over the proper way to spell "Canittler" so much I had to do a search in this thread to see if I was the only one who felt the Canal Street spelling was incorrect Turns out, the spelling seems to be somewhat "grammar fluid" according to those who have mentioned this particular pattern in this thread. Since the word is obviously a portmanteau of "Canoe" and "Whittler", it makes more sense to me to spell it with two "t"s instead of two "n"s. Apparently, that's not the way the Canal Street ad copy or label maker person feels, though

Love the Canal Street QT! I have two of them and, it doesn't matter how you spell canittler, they're great knives. Too bad CSC didn't last.

They taught me phonics in school which results in my spelling being about 60% wrong. I'm still trying to figure out how they get "tung" out of "toungue". Go figure...
