A unique frame and bolster like no other.
Were these bolsters called door hinges or do I have this mixed up with something else?

Yeah Joe, you're close. They're called barn door hinge bolsters. Usually seen on the smaller KA-BAR knife that is very similar and were etched "Pirate Switch".
