Case Knife History

Post by Mason »

There was some great discussions about Case and related knife companies on the latest "The Catch Bit Show" podcast.
Brad Lockwood was a guest and is the author of "The Case Cutlery Dynasty". Some wild stories of those old family members.

Thanks Neal. Fascinating stories! ::tu:: ::tu:: When is the follow-up episode?

BTW regarding the brief bit about North American Cutlery and the mystery of who made those knives, I have two knives that might be evidence. One is stamped North American, the other is stamped Phoenix Knife Co. They appear to be identical. I also have another knife stamped North American that I believe was made by Cattaraugus. JMO but I see no reason they could not have sourced from both cutleries, given they had family connections to both Phoenix and Cattaraugus.

Hi Neal, Myron suggested I listen to it and did. Was pretty good although most doubt the story about raising American deer for antlers to use for pocket knife scales. I gotta listen to the one you did with Myron. Ken, very cool and hard to find knives!!

Just took a short road trip and listened to this behind the wheel. Very fascinating. So glad for the suggestion. As a newbie, this shed a lot of light into the Case brand and the family influences. I’ll be keeping watch for part 2 for sure.

Thanks Ken, and part two with Brad comes out next Friday.

Those are two nice old Coke bottle patterns with very unique stamps. Except for the nail nicks, they sure are close to an Old Cattaraugus "King of the Woods" model.

Yeah Neal, great comaraderie and food! Makes me nuts the NCCA no longer has shows in the area. Will listen to Brad in the next edition.
