Requesting your prayers

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Requesting your prayers

Post by ThatWeirdKnifeGuy »

My father called me today to relate some unhappy news. My grandmother has been having a tough time for a few weeks. She's been diagnosed with lewy body dementia. She and my grampa have both been a bit forgetful for a few years, but things took a very sudden and dark turn recently with her experiencing vivid and long lasting visual and auditory hallucinations. Sometimes these are also accompanied by violent and irrational bouts of rage. In one instance my grandfather apparently was afraid for his life. She was upset with him for "letting all these people in the house". Their home was of course quiet and empty.

She's such a sweet old lady, the quintessential great-grandmother. These episodes must be terribly frightening for both her and my grampa. My heart aches for them both.

The next step is a barrage of tests to figure out what stage she's in and what the course of treatment will be. Also being considered by my family is how to care for these two, who would both very much like to never leave their home in the country.

I would deeply appreciate it if any who read this would remember to mention my grandparents when they take time out of their day to speak with the Father. Join me please in asking for peace, comfort and strength for them both.

Thank you friends.

I appreciate that you all took the time to read, respond and act upon my request. It's difficult for me to gauge how well my grandmother is doing. I can't really ask on the phone, I'm always on speaker phone talking to both at the same time and asking about hallucinating is tough to navigate. I have to wait for my grandfather to talk to my father, then for my father to call or email me the updates. Mostly though it seems that her new hearing aids make her seem 50 years younger in conversation, so that's a small blessing. We've decided to keep our initial plans of visiting in June. Until then I'm just hoping that there's no updates or changes and that the episodes go away.
