J.Russell & Co Green River Works knife and Sheath

I would like to show a knife that I have owned for a long time... I bought a sheath the other day that fit the knife very nicely
This knife is 16 inches long including the handle... the blade is 10 inches long... The stamp on the blade is J. Russell & Co. Green River Works
The handle looks to be ebony with 5 pins... the spine goes the full length of the knife and is tapered which I'm told makes it eaiser to hold
also these are indicators that tell the age of the knife which is suppose to be older...The Russell knives are made from (1834- present)
What I have read it's diffcult to pin-point the date made...I have heard Russell made thousands of the knives blades and they were shipped all over
the eastern and western part of the United States...these knives were owned by Native Americans, Mountain Men, Buffalo Hunters, Cowboys
the 1849's gold miners, Soldiers and also used as common household butcher knives..
I would like to hear from others about these knives

Really nice old butcher knife! The Russells are hard to date since they used the same stamp for many years.

Yeah that's what I've been told.... I do have some others Russell knives with a different stamp I want to say later ones
I also have some folding Russell barlows with the arrows !!.....
About the box in the picture... not sure what it is used for.. Does anyone know have any idea??.. I got it in a trade with a some other knives
I thought the box could be about the same time period as the Russell knife; found inside was a China-Head doll made in early-mid 1800's:
that doesn't necessarily mean the box and doll are the same age as the Russell knife
The box does have a nice design on the top; a lock with no key... What's unusual is the side of the box has hinges that opens (Never seen that before) other than that the box seems to be made for some fancy purpose don't know if it was for the doll or not??
The centerpiece (as shown in the other pic) with the frame is in the box... the box shows age and use but fair condition
I know it's off the subject but I would appreciate any information on this box-doll as it's uncharted waters for me...lol
