Missing bone replacement?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Missing bone replacement?

Post by Jonboat72 »

I found this old Remington bone handled Boy Scout knife at a garage sale this summer. It is missing, if I get this correct, the pile side scale. Does anyone have an a recommendation on how to get this repaired, who to send to? I have repaired broken sections of bone on some other old knives, but never the entire scale. I believe this to be a somewhat valuable knife and would like it done properly just so it’s workable again and keep for my collection.

There are several members here who replace handle covers. Go to the knife repair and restoration forum here https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... m.php?f=37 Look through the posts, find someone (or three) whose work you like, and send them a PM to start discussion of replacing the covers on your knife. ::tu::

No apology necessary. There’s lots of stuff here - takes a while to find it all! Been here nearly 11 years myself and I’m still finding new stuff.
